Job Opportunity: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Halifax

Axem Neurotechnology is building brain-sensing technology to help athletes monitor and
improve their mental practice, and now searching for a creative, self-motivated mechanical engineer to help with developing a mobile functional near-infrared spectroscopy system for measuring brain activity in an over-the-head headphones form factor.

As part of a small, dynamic team, the position will require the individual to lead iterative
prototype development, including…
– Generate design solutions that increase the prototype’s signal-to-noise ratio and/or
improve form-factor, in collaboration with electrical engineers and neuroscientists
– Critique and iterate on designs from an industrial designer using CAD
– Select and source materials for new prototypes
– Fabricate and assemble new prototypes
– Design for manufacturability
– Generate corresponding documentation and BOMs

Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering required.

Highest priority will be given to: individuals with formal work experience that includes hands-on
prototyping and fabrication; individuals with expertise in CAD; individuals with expertise in
optics and/or electronics.

The newly formed Oxford Robotics Institute (formerly the Oxford Mobile Robotics Group) is seeking outstanding candidates for a faculty position in Robotics / Information Engineering.

The successful candidate will be expected to engage in original research in the field of robotics, to secure research funding and to assist in the teaching of their subject at both undergraduate and graduate level. She or he will have a strong background applicable to research in robotics, including a doctorate in the subject or a cognate discipline, a proven research record of high quality at international level, significant future research potential, and the ability to attract research funding and develop an independent program of research.
